What is Sortext
Sortext is an AI-powered e-commerce conversion optimization platform designed to turn hesitant or first-time visitors into paying customers. By analyzing visitor behavior in real time, Sortext identifies when users are about to leave a website and automatically delivers personalized, limited-time discount offers to encourage them to complete their purchase. This smart exit-intent strategy helps reduce cart abandonment, increase conversions, and boost overall revenue. Sortext also integrates seamlessly with Shopify via its AI-driven app, giving merchants deeper customer insights and tools to improve sales performance.
Is Sortext worth registering and paying for
Sortext, as an AI-powered Shopify marketing app, has the potential to increase store conversion rates and sales through personalized limited-time offers and A/B testing. However, its effectiveness varies depending on the store type, product characteristics, and market conditions. Before deciding to purchase, it is recommended to make full use of the free trial period to carefully evaluate whether it meets your needs and compare it with similar apps. If your store needs to boost sales and you have a sufficient budget, Sortext could be a worthwhile option to consider.
Our experience
Shopify Store Owner – Fashion & Accessories, ~$1.8M/year 2021 – Present
I run a women’s boutique on Shopify. Cart abandonment used to be my nightly nightmare — 74–78% every single month like clockwork. I tried every popup app under the sun: “Subscribe for 10% off,” spinning wheels, free shipping bars, the usual stuff. People just closed the tab and laughed.
Then in early 2024 I installed Sortext because it was on sale for like $29/month and I was drunk on desperation. Activated it, set a 15% auto-discount for first-time visitors who hit the back button with something in the cart, and went to bed.
Woke up to 28 extra orders and a Slack ping from my VA that just said “what the hell did you do??”
That first month it added $41k in recovered revenue. I thought it was a fluke. Second month: $38k. Third month: $52k. I stopped thinking it was a fluke and started treating Sortext like my silent business partner who never sleeps.
How it actually feels day-to-day:
Someone adds three dresses to cart, browses a bit more, then moves their mouse up to close the tab → Sortext instantly pops a clean little overlay: “Your 18% off expires in 10 minutes – complete checkout now?” No annoying countdown timer, no “everyone gets this” vibe — it feels personal because it literally only triggers when they’re bailing.
Real numbers that still make me giggle:
- Black Friday week last year: abandonment normally spikes to 90%+. Sortext recovered $187k in sales we would’ve 100% lost. I watched the dashboard in real time while eating cold pizza at 3 a.m. and actually laughed out loud every time another “recovered” ping came in.
- Average order value went up too because it started offering free shipping on $100+ when people were abandoning $80–$90 carts. People would throw in another item just to hit the threshold. Sneaky and brilliant.
- Returning customer rate jumped 9% because the discount only applies the first time — they come back later paying full price.
My favorite story: Girl added a $189 coat, bounced around the site for 12 minutes, went to close the tab. Sortext hit her with “$40 off if you grab it right now.” She bought the coat… and two more things. Left a review two weeks later: “I wasn’t even going to buy but that popup got me lol.” I screenshotted it and sent it to the Sortext support team with way too many heart emojis.
Only tiny gripes:
- Early on it was a little trigger-happy and popped up for people who were just opening the menu. They fixed it in like two days after I complained.
- You have to set the discount aggression yourself — I started at 25% and scared myself, now I live at 12–18% and it’s perfect.
I pay $99/month now (upgraded plan) and it’s the single highest-ROI app in my entire store. I make that back in the first 4–5 hours of every month, then it’s just free money for the rest of the 30 days.
If you’re on Shopify and you’re cool with leaving 15–30% of your revenue on the table every month, keep doing what you’re doing. If not, install Sortext, set it and forget it, and watch your “abandoned cart recovered” emails turn into the happiest notifications you get all day.
I went from crying over 76% abandonment to celebrating when it drops below 50%. Feels like cheating, but the orders hit my bank account, so I’m not complaining.
