Our experience
I run a little online candle shop and a couple of side-hustle newsletters. Two years ago my email game was tragic—Mailchimp’s price had shot through the roof the minute I crossed 2,500 subs, and every other “cheap” tool felt like it was built in 2009. I was literally copy-pasting HTML templates like a caveman.
Found SendMails because some random dude in a Facebook group wouldn’t shut up about it. Signed up for the free trial at 2 a.m. while stress-eating ice cream. Woke up the next morning to my first welcome series already built (drag-and-drop, looked gorgeous on mobile, took me 18 minutes). Sent it to my 9,000-sub list and made $4,200 that week off a $29 candle bundle. I actually yelped.
The automation stuff is legit dumb-proof. I have a “cart abandoner” flow that fires 20 minutes after someone bails—sends a funny GIF of my dog looking sad + 10% off. Recovery rate went from basically zero to 19%. Another flow re-engages people who haven’t opened in 60 days with “We miss you + here’s what’s new.” Open rate on that one email is 63%. Sixty-three. I still don’t believe it.
The editor is my happy place now. I’m not a designer, but I can make emails that look like they cost $500 each in under 15 minutes. They have these smart blocks that auto-pull your latest products or blog posts—no Zapier nonsense required.
Analytics are actually useful, not just pretty charts. It tells me exactly which link made money, which subject line bombed, and even which device people are opening on (turns out 78% of my buyers are on iPhones—changed my preview text game forever).
Real numbers from my scrappy little store:
- Monthly email revenue before SendMails: ~$6k
- After: averaging $28k (Black Friday last year hit $74k from email alone)
- List size: 9k → 42k without paying Meta a dime
- Deliverability: sitting at 99.2% (they’ve got some magic warmup thing that just works)
The not-so-pretty:
- Free plan caps at 1,000 subs / 12,000 emails—fine for testing, then you gotta pay.
- I’m now on the $79/month plan and worth every penny, but it stings when you’re bootstrapping.
- Support is email-only and can take a day, but I’ve only needed them twice.
- No native landing pages (I just use Carrd, no biggie).
Honestly? SendMails turned email from something I dreaded into my biggest profit lever. I went from “please don’t unsubscribe” energy to “who wants another email this week?” energy. If you’re a small business or creator who’s been putting off email because the big tools feel overwhelming or overpriced, just start the free trial. You’ll send your first money-making campaign before your coffee gets cold.
Still can’t believe this little tool out-performs platforms that charge 10× more. 11/10, no notes.
